Untitled (Kiss) (1995, reprinted 2024) was first shown at the ICA-London in an exhibition titled ‘Mirage: Enigmas of Race Difference and Desire’, that brought together an international group of artists inspired by the writings of influential theorist, Frantz Fanon, and one of his key texts ‘Black Skin, White Masks’, about the negotiations of cultural identity and difference within Western society. Untitled (Kiss) dramatizes the moment of tension when black and white lovers kiss.
