The ‘D2’ Information Dept. of Police of the Province of Córdoba – Argentina, was one of the many clandestine detention centres in the country during the military dictatorship (1976-1983). Unlike other detention centres located in remote areas, the D2 carried out its programme of terror within full view of everyone, a few meters from the Plaza San Martín in the heart of the city between the Cathedral and the Cabildo Histórico. It was established as the central link between the military and the police, to carry out persecution, kidnapping, torture and strategic allocation of men, women and children to other agencies both police and military.

Altered from a detention centre to Museo de la Memoria, the museum is a chilling testament to the excesses of that time and now has a remit to document the atrocities that took place there.

On the 4th of October 2010, a choral group directed by Gustavo Maldino was invited to sing Maria Elena Walsh's 'Oración al la Justicia' (A Prayer to Justice), to a series of photographs of the disappeared in the Museo de la Memoria. As part of the event, members of the general public were invited to join the performance. Gather: Justicia, a single-channel video of the performance was commissioned for Afuera! Contemporary Art in Public Spaces, an international art project curated by Gerardo Mosquera and Rodrigo Alonso, in conjunction with the Cultural Center España Córdoba, which took place in October 2010 across the city of Córdoba, Argentina.
