Sonia Boyce will participate in ‘Inequalities’, the 24th International Exhibition of La Triennale, Milan.

‘Inequalities’ is a collective project that, through installations, exhibitions and events, questions the global challenges related to the differences present in various spheres of existence: from economic to ethnic, from geographic origin to gender. This exhibition also includes a section devoted to international participations under the auspices of the BIE – Bureau International des Expositions.

Boyce’s contribution to La Triennale, is Yes, I Hear You, a four-channel video installation originally commissioned by the Serpentine Gallery, London in 2022 as part of ‘Radio Ballads’, and re-staged in 2025 at La Triennale.

For Yes, I Hear You, the artist invited groups of people, from social workers to academics, to listen to anonymised transcripts of people who had shared their experiences of coercive behaviour and abuse with the artist. She later invited the four film performers to interpret these transcripts as well, connecting with their own responses. Throughout the project, Boyce and her collaborators asked who we listen as and who are we listening to, and what happens to stories of harm through acts of collective voicing, recording, and embodiment.
